There are many, many islands that make up the Philippines. After much prayer, we decided to return to El Nido on the island of Palawan, the site of our evangelistic series and church plant in 2003.

The big day has arrived! Mission Experience 2006 is underway. Three of the eighteen young people wait patiently for a flight that will lead them far from home. All is in the Lord's hands. Prayers of parents, families and friends ascend constantly for their safety until word reaches home that all are safe in Manila.

The views are well worth the seemingly endless flights. The Philippine Islands are one of creation's jewels.

And after two days, the luggage even got to its destination! Oh, the blessings of air travel!

These two participants had a rough start to their trip, but the Lord saw them safely to their destination—along with all of that lost luggage!

On the way to El Nido the group had an unexpected stop in Tay Tay due to heavy rains and mud. This gave everyone a chance to stretch and adjust to their new environment for a day as they waited for the roads to become a little more passable.

Now joined by the 32 pieces of lost luggage and a new jeepney, the journey to El Nido continued. Packing all of that stuff and 23 people into this vehicle was a challenge that all determined to conquer! With little room to spare, and only a day of delay, the soggy trek was resumed. Praise the Lord!

In addition to flat tires and other obstacles, sometimes the bridges that must be crossed are a test of faith and skill.

The mud was so deep in some places that there was heavy machinery waiting to pull or push oncoming traffic through the quagmire.

Nothing was left clean after that journey!
