For years, the College of the Barba was the
primary
training school for youth wanting to learn and share the apostolic faith. Campers in YD's
Waldensian Youth Camp got to explore the standing remains of this great school, located at
Pra del Torno. (1995) |

Here, some of the campers from our 1995 tour gather to
discuss the history of the College of the Barba (visible in the background). (1995) |

Tourist Tip #12: Make sure you have a handyman along!
Will Evert ponders the next step in remedying a flat tire. (1997) |

Christina Boyd and Lacinda Nicholson experience an ice
storm on Mount Casteluzzo. It's a vivid reminder of the times the Waldenses had to flee in
deep midwinter. (Although for our campers it was fun.) (1998) |

Up at Balsiglia, snow was still fresh on the ground.
Good thing they brought along those sweaters! (1997) |

Tramp, tramp, tramp. Campers explore a village high in
the French Alps. Nearby is a cave where 3,000 Waldenses were martyred. (1998) |

It's a loooong way down! The campers hiked to the top
of Casteluzzo, to see the monument pictured here. This stack of rocks marks the place
where many Waldensian martyrs were hurled over the ledge because they would not yield
their faith. (1997) |

Not all of the best sites to see in Italy are
accessible by road or trail. Jerome Beldin and Nigel Standish ease their way down a rock
face, to a ledge that Waldenses once used as a refuge from enemy forces. This ledge is
located several hundred feet below the monument atop Casteluzzo, pictured above. (1997) |
