One Sabbath, Pastor Job calls Andy to the front to teach the English Sabbath school class! Although Andy has not studied that lesson, God blesses him with the right words. By now, the young people are used to being put on the spot and pushed a little outside their comfort zones.

We often made friends with the children. Sometimes it was too easy. This little girl just reached out her hands to the two Christina's in the group.

The children often want to be near us, sitting in our laps, holding our hands, or leaning over our shoulders. They loved the attention we gave them.

To have clean clothes, there are washing machines and dryers, right? Wrong! We all must do our laundry by hand. That is, until some of the participants found out that the owner of Cliffside Cottages, Mrs. Socrates, would wash clothes for a small fee. After discovering that, several of the young men and ladies took advantage of her service quite often.

We celebrate Rachel's birthday with a small gift, a colorful banner, and several loud choruses of "Happy Birthday."

What better place to celebrate a winter birthday than the tropical Philippines! This is one birthday Rachel will never forget.

In El Nido, we have electricity for about 12 hours a day. That leaves a good chunk of the day without power. Fortunately we brought a hand cranked blender from home. We make gravies, sauces, and a few fruit puddings. We use it so often and so vigorously, that we eventually wear it out!

On our fist day off, we head out in bancas, or out-rigger boats to go snorkeling. The fish and coral in the Philippines are some of the most spectacular in the world. Although some of us come back with sunburns, we all enjoy a break from the routine.

Bamboo, the man in the right of the picture, is our tour guide. He directs us to the perfect snorkeling spots and even shows us a secret lagoon.
