El Nido

Each day those assigned to be Bible workers go into El Nido to visit with the people and invite them to the evening meetings. Sometimes they take dirt bike tricycles into neighboring barangays, or villages.

Adventist volunteer Bible workers are assigned to take out our Bible workers on these visitations. Christina and two of the missionaries invite more ladies along with the children to the meetings.

This is a typical street in the town of El Nido, Palawan.

The children of El Nido occupy a special place in each of the hearts of the mission experience participants. We enjoy spending time with them.

While the Bible Workers do their visiting, each group takes a digital camera along. They take pictures of the people they meet and tell them they can see themselves at the evening adult meetings. Several nights in a row, we project a slideshow of the people visited in El Nido. From the smiles and pointing from the audience, we know the people enjoyed seeing themselves and people they know.

On our day off, we visit some hot springs. Ouch, they are HOT! In the places where the path goes through streams of water, we have to step fast! Several people slip on the logs we use to help us across and our translator loses one of his flip-flops in the mud! Fortunately no one is burned.

Because of miscommunication, for the first couple of nights the children's meetings are held right next to the adult meetings—only separated by a tarp. Although this situation isn't ideal we believe that the Lord is in the process of making other arrangements!
