Philippine Mission Experience 2004!

San Vicente, Palawan

Every day started out with exercise!  Although many of us woke up, threw on our exercise clothes, and staggered out to the meeting area, we were always wide awake by the time we were done!

Our morning exercise always included a jog on the beach. The fresh salty breeze from the South China Sea felt good as we worked on keeping our muscles, bones, heart, and lungs healthy.

During our first week there, we spent much of our time preparing for the evangelistic meetings. Here Leilana, Duane, and Karen are learning public speaking skills from Mark Finley's training DVD. These three wonderful young people presented the sermons for the evening meetings with enthusiasm and strength only God can provide.

The medical team gave their hands some practice at giving chair massages, and hydrotherapy treatments.

Most of us were members of the choir, which was scheduled to present one song each night of the evangelistic meetings. This called for lots of practice time! God was with our choir, and although almost every one of us had a cough at some time during the meetings, God always sustained our voices and held the coughs back during the performances.

A month is kind of a long time for a guy to go without a haircut.  Most of the boys in the mission team had their hair cut in the little village of San Vicente. This was quite a unique and exciting experience!

Laundry! We all had our experience with hand washing our laundry in a bucket and hanging it out to dry in the sun. We learned by trial and error, but by the end of the trip we were pretty good at it!
