WHAT IS IT?

The Young Disciple Mission Experience is a revolutionary way for young people to acquire tools and confidence to share their faith in a public setting. In a safe and supporting environment the Mission Experience provides a unique balance of preparation, training, and real-life experiences.

WHERE IS IT?

This year's Mission Experience is scheduled to take place on the island of Negros in the Philippines. The Philippines is widely known for its pristine natural beauty and open-hearted, friendly people. Few places on Earth offer visitors such a hearty, genuine welcome.

WHAT WILL I DO?

Each Mission Experience participant will be involved in one or more of the following areas of evangelism.

Child Evangelism: Conduct the entire children's evangelistic series including presenting sermons, stories, health lessons, songs, and crafts to a large group of energetic and attentive children ages 5-13.

Public Evangelism: Present the evening evangelistic sermons using New Beginnings scripts and beautiful illustrations displayed on a big screen.

Technical Support: Provide technical and logistic support to keep the program running smoothly. Skill required in computers,  photography, videography, sound, and/or media presentation.

Medical Missionary Evangelism: Use the Abundant Living Health Evangelism program to present the nightly health messages. Conduct door-to-door health evangelism, and use your medical missionary skills to draw people to Christ.

ACCOMMODATIONS & MEALS

Lodging will be in simple, shared rooms with common toilet and shower facilities (boys and girls separate). Meals will be vegetarian, nondairy, low-fat, and low-sugar. Any special dietary needs are the responsibility of the participant.

RETREAT

Native style cottages; soft white sand beach; colorful coral gardens; stunning tropical fish; that's what you can expect to experience on the Mission Experience Retreat. But that's not all. Most importantly, we'll spend time together recounting the ways the Lord has led during the trip, and exploring His will for the future.

CODES & POLICIES

DRESS CODE: Girls: Everyday wear for most Mission Experience activities should be modest skirts, dresses, or jumpers that  cover the knee when standing or sitting, and allow a full stride when walking. Slits must end below the knee. Low-cut, see-through, tight, or sleeveless tops are not appropriate. Tops must be long enough to cover bare skin when reaching or bending over. For designated activities, fingertip-length shirts or tunics over shorts or pants are appropriate. No makeup or nail polish.

Boys: Bring neat casual clothing. Shirts should be tucked in. No shorts, except for designated activities. Hats should not be worn backwards or sideways, and should be removed inside buildings and for all prayers. Both: Bring sturdy clothing and shoes that will hold up to vigorous activity and dusty conditions. No tank tops, sleeveless items, questionable or suggestive lettering or pictures on clothing.

SOCIAL RELATIONS: Friendly interaction among participants is encouraged. Intense and/or romantic relationships are not permitted.

ITEMS TO LEAVE AT HOME: Portable electronics (unless pre-approved by YD staff), gum, electronic or card games, secular reading material, makeup, nail polish, jewelry (including rings), or anything that would detract from the goals and atmosphere of the Mission Experience.
